A doctor and a lawyer were talking at a
party. Their conversation was
constantly interrupted by people
describing their ailments and asking
the doctor for free medical advice.
After an hour of this, the exasperated
doctor asked the lawyer, "What do you
do to stop people from asking you for
legal advice when you're out
of the office?"
"I give it to them," replied the lawyer,
"and then I send them a bill." So the
doctor spent the rest of the night
answering medical questions and
writing down names.
The next day, laughing to himself, the
doctor prepared the bills. When he
went to place them in his mailbox, he
found... a bill from the lawyer.

A new manager spends a week at his new office with the manager he's replacing. On
the last day the departing manager tells him, "I've left three numbered envelopes in the
desk drawer. Open an envelope every time you find yourself in a crisis you can't
solve."
Three months down the track there is a major drama and the manager feels very
threatened. He remembers the envelopes and opens the first one. The message inside
says "Blame your predecessor!", which he does, and gets off the hook.
About half a year later, the company is experiencing a dip in sales. The manager
quickly opens the second envelope. The message read, "Reorganize!" This he does,
and the company quickly rebounds.
Three months later, at his next crisis, he opens the third envelope. The message inside
says "Prepare three envelopes..."
